Portsmouth play their first ever competitive match in Europe tonight (Thursday, September 18th) when Portuguese outfit Guimares come to town.
Boss Harry Redknapp has called on the Fratton Park crowd to roar Pompey on to a winning start against a team who came third in Portugal's top flight last season.
Redknapp may have to compensate for the loss of winger John Utaka through a knee injury, with former Reading man Glen Little ready to step in if required.
The canny manager believes that the home backing can help his team: "We'll get the crowd behind us, play an English style that we play every week and get about them.
"We'll try to make it a great Fratton Park night again for the fans who have been waiting so long for this. That is what it is all about."
Guimares last Uefa Cup campaign dates back to the 2005/06 season, when they were dumped out of a group containing Bolton Wanderers.
